Collection consists of two undated photographs taken by photographers J.N. Wilson and M. Edward Wilson from Savannah, Georgia. The photograph by J.N. Wilson depicts soldiers with wide-brimmed hats. It likely dates to around 1880, as Wilson operated under a slightly different name later in the century. The photograph by M. Edward Wilson depicts soldiers standing in a line. M. Edward Wilson operated around 1900, so the photograph may depict soldiers training for the Spanish American war.

Represented are university buildings, residential homes, and religious and business facilities. A considerable number of photographs of nature, particularly water and falls, are included as well as several photographs of individuals and groups, both white and African-American. Consists of one photograph album containing 69 photographs. Includes images of a Baraca Philathea convention in Rome, Georgia and a Baraca Philathea convention in Dalton, Georgia. Also includes images of a May Day celebration at Shorter College and images of a trip to Stone Mountain, Georgia. Baraca Philathea was a Sunday school movement for young adults attempting to rekindle their religious fervor.

The collection consists of writings, printed material, maps, clippings, photographs and artifacts. This collection also includes material from Dr. Goff's research including preliminary notes for articles, working copies of Georgia county maps, and the incomplete manuscript for "Off to Alabama." Dr. Goff asked Hemperley to complete some of his writings and this collection contains research and notes pertaining to this project. Aslo included are stone fragments, pottery fragments, 18th century nails, Civil War bullets, and a 19th century brass spike. Georgia maps stamped "Dr. John H. Goff Collection" were removed from this collection and added to the county map folders in the Hargrett Library Map Collection.

The Jack Leigh collection contains an array of material covering both Leigh's personal and professional life. The collection includes photographs, negatives, slides, audio tapes, video tapes, journals, notebooks, appointment books, schedules, letters, printed material, correspondence/subject files, material relating to his published books, financial papers, legal documents, medical and insurance papers, and other items. The professional photographs include work prints, contact prints, and fine art prints. Subjects range from Southern landscapes, coastal scenes, rural and agricultural scenes and interiors to people in family groups, social gatherings, and in various recreational and occupational activities. Many of the images are ones that were used in his published books. The negatives include 35mm, 4x5, and medium format and are arranged by date (in most cases the first 2 digits of the negative number indicate the year it was made). Papers relating to his books include research material, notes, drafts, proofs, correspondence, photographs, promotional material, reviews, and other items. The legal material in the collection includes papers concerning his litigation with Warner Brothers as well as a few other copyright infringement cases. Personal material in the collection includes letters, photographs, journals, notebooks, printed matter, and some of his parents papers which include letters, albums, scrapbooks, diaries, writings, and genealogical material.

The collection consists of letters, postcards, clippings, a hand-printed and illustrated chapbook of Sidney Lanier's Song of the Chattahoochee, a 1930 University of Georgia commencement program, and a 1941 Athens Telephone Directory. There are 193 photographs, which include a handmade booklet of nine photographs of Georgia entitled "The friendly road," photographs taken in Poland, photographs taken at a summer camp in Mayland, Tennessee, and numerous candid shots of people.

This photograph collection contains black and white photographic prints, negatives, slides, and 16-mm film. There are numerous photographs related to Friend's service in the South Pacific during World War II, nature and wildlife in Georgia, Georgia politicians and his travels around the United States and the world. Of special interest is a film Friend shot in 1958 of the a two day seminar held at the Highlander Folk School in Monteagle, Tennessee, which was attended by Martin Luther King, Jr, Rosa Parks and others.
